Most of us have lots of stuff we don't want, and things that we do want. Freecycle was set up to help people to exchange these things locally. It's a worldwide grassroots movement of people who are giving & getting stuff for free in their own towns. Each group is run by a local volunteer moderator. Membership is free. If there isn't a local group, you could consider starting one, but the number of local groups is growing all the time.

The Freecycle Network was started in May 2003 to promote waste reduction in Tucson USA, because there was concern about the desert landscape being taken over by landfills. The Network provides individuals and non-profit organisations an electronic forum to recycle unwanted items. As the organisers say: "One person's trash can truly be another's treasure!"
