Health Tips For Women

Health Tips Particularly For Women by Jane Thurnell-Read

Women share a lot of health problems with men, but there are some that are unique to being a woman. Here are information and suggestions about ways to take better care of yourself and improve your health.

Night Work Problems
Women working at night are more likely to suffer from breast cancer than those who don't. If you work nights, pay particular attention to any changes in your breasts.

Breast Cancer Risks
Researchers at the Ontario Cancer Institute analysed 45 studies involving 500,000+ women. Women who ate the highest amounts of saturated fat were on average 20 percent more likely to get breast cancer than those who ate the lowest. Reduce your intake of saturated fats by eating less meat, the main source of saturated fat.

Breast Feeding And Breast Cancer
Breast feeding is not only good for babies; it's also good for women - it reduces your chance of getting breast cancer later in life.

Hot Flushes?
Some women find that hot flushes are made worse by tea, coffee, alcohol, colas and spicy foods. Smoking can make hot flushes worse too.  Try Menostage for hot flushes and other menopausal problems.

Recurring Candida or Thrush
Recurring candida or thrush problems, or genital itching can be a sign of diabetes. Get yourself checked out to be sure.

Cinnamon
Cinnamon as a spice or a supplement can help those with type II diabetes lower their blood sugar, fats and cholesterol levels, particularly if taken regularly as a supplement in the morning.

Stomach Bloating?
Fennel and peppermint can really help stomach bloating. Probiotics can often be helpful too.

Perfume
According to the US National Academy of Sciences 95% of chemicals used in fragrances are derived from petrochemicals. The idea that they are delightful natural fragrances is often more advertising hype than actual reality. Allergies to perfumes can cause dermatitis and hay fever-like symptoms.

Dry Lips?
Pierce a capsule of evening primrose oil and apply to the lips. Massage in well.

Eaten Something You Shouldn't?
"Just because you mess up once doesn't mean you should quit! You're only human. Don't let one small slip keep you derailed." (Kim Lyons)

Irregular Periods
If you suffer from irregular periods for no apparent reason, try taking the herbs agnus castus and dong quai. Take a good multi-vit too.

Period Pains?
A  daily supplement of the mineral magnesium has been shown to help period pains and PMS.

Trying For A Baby?
Research suggests that stress may be one of the main causes of female infertility. Take a good look at your life and see what you need to change. Try natural stress remedies or get help from a therapist if need be.

Women's Libido
“Older women are constantly reminded that their libido will decline as they get older. Our postbag suggests that this decline is a myth.” (Suzi Godson, sex columnist in the UK newspaper The Times). Do don't expect that your libido will drop just because you are getting older.

Chlamydia
Signs of Chlamydia infection include unusual vaginal discharges, bleeding between periods and pain when passing urine, although there may be no obvious symptoms. Don’t wonder; get it checked out.

Thinning Hair?
If you’re hair getting thinner all over (not in patches) and you’re a woman,  you may benefit from taking iron and the amino acid l-lysine.

Be Happy!
Professor Mihaly Csikszentmihaly says that many people assume that popular activities like watching TV are enjoyable, but his research shows that people are happier when they do things where they feel involved and active.
