In December 2007 Alexandra presented with pain in her jaw area, right side and heat in the tongue after a lower right impacted wisdom tooth was removed in September under anaesthetic in the dentist’s surgery. I recommended 2 to 3 Bowen treatments as she was returning mid-January to the USA where she is an undergraduate student.
In the first session I was able to complete BRM 1,2 and 3 although she had some interesting effects on the early moves with pain in her left hip going down through the knee. She also felt nauseous during some of the early moves, but this passed always within two minutes. By the end of the first session she revealed that, curiously, the space between her tongue and jaw on the right side had been bigger than on the left side, but now it seemed to be even.
As we started the second treatment one week later Alexandra told me she had had a lot less heat in the tongue that week, but a lot of back pain! I decided to proceed with BRM 1, 2, Resp and 3, as planned and see how the reactions were as we went along. The Bottom Stoppers immediately produced pain in her liver area which went away in a couple of minutes. BRM 2 moves 1-4 produced a kind of sciatic pain down the back of the left leg with moves 5-8 bringing on a pain in the left ear/jaw and the top of her head – again quickly releasing within the two minutes. I decided to add Gall to the Resp, after her first reaction to the Bottom Stoppers, and this procedure produced some pain in the right kidney area with a flash of pain in the mid-forehead.
BRM 3 produced an ache over the right eye and forehead area and more muscular aches in the left knee and leg “as if it was stretching out”. By the end of the treatment she said the right side of her mouth felt warmer, and the ‘gap’ between jaw and tongue was again closing/evening up.
When she arrived a week later for her third treatment Alexandra announced that now only the tip of her tongue was slightly hot. She had also had a lot of weird dreams all week and some aches and pains. I went ahead as planned with Bottom Stoppers, BRM 2, 3, UR/TMJ. By now the reactions were less strong, more local, and didn’t last long. After the TMJ she felt some pain in the right ear area and there was heat in the whole of the right side of her mouth.
Alexandra has since returned to the USA feeling more balanced, calm and pain free. She tells me the pain and heat in the tongue and jaw which she had endured for 3 months before Bowen is now completely gone.
