Recently, Richard Bartlett, the Seattle, Washington based, developer of Matrix Energetics talked about the application of scalar fields, variables, waves and vectors to consciousness, health and well being.
First the definitions. The mathematical quantities which are used to describe the motion of objects are either a vector or a scalar.
Scalars are quantities which are fully described by a magnitude or numerical value alone. Distance, displacement, speed, velocity, acceleration, temperature are scalars.
Vectors are quantities which are fully described by both a magnitude and a direction, according to Glenbrook in "Describing Motion with Words: Scalars and Vectors." The Physics Classroom Tutorial.
Imagine the temperature in the room where you are reading this.
Is it hot or cold? How do you choose? What is the temperature? Is it 65 degrees fahrenheit or 18 degrees celsius?
Regardless of how you calculate the room temperature, it is not exactly the same temperature in every part of the three-dimensional space.
There are probably doors and windows in the room and some kind of heating system. Some parts may be better insulated than others and between all of the different part there is a continuous change in the temperature.
The temperature (T) can be described like a grid with each location assigned an x, y and z. A change in the temperature in one location eventually influences the whole room.
The temperature will change as those coordinates change. In other words T is a function of x, y and z and T is a scalar field.
Where the thermometer is located influences how you answer the question, "What is the temperature of the room?" Whether you think the room is hot or cold, depends even more on the subjective factors you use to evaluate the three dimensional space.
In engineering, the word scalar is used to describe the combination of all the forces acting on a certain point.
So when someone says to you, "Hi, how are you doing?" As you answer the question you are evaluating a wide range of factors and forces within the scalar field of you body and psyche.
You may give a greater weight to the a well functioning heart, great lymphatic flow, a good nights sleep or you might put greater importance on a compressed nerve, knee pain or a stuffy nose.
What if through Matrix Energetics or other hands-on consciousness based approaches you could shift what you put your attention on?
The speed (a scalar factor) of the blood flowing to the heart and the knee, the distance traversed by the nerve impulse need not change in order for your overall sense of well being to change. At the same time, a shift in your attention may change blood flow and nerve impulses.
In the time space continuum, how is a Monday morning different from a Saturday morning? Yet, significantly more heart attacks happen on Monday morning.
Many people using complementary medicine approaches in their health and wellness regime find that how much weight or importance you give to certain factors makes all the difference.
