Stop Smoking With Bach Flower Remedies

How Bach Flowers Can Help Break “The Habit” by Rixt Botello

It is a well-known fact that smoking has an “emotional element to its addiction. Often stressful situations can “make” one reach for another ciggy. Bach Flower Remedies help balance negative emotional states of mind. And today they are sometimes referred to as the “stress” relief therapy.

The remedies can help with the stresses associated with breaking the smoking habit as well as aiding with breaking the addiction.

During the last thirteen years of practice with the Bach Flower Remedies, I have used the remedies on various occasions when a client wishes to “kick the habit”.

First of all it is important to realise that not everyone has the same emotional reason or need for smoking. So every client is treated differently. And by treating what is presented emotionally, the client eventually can come to the core of the reason. Helping them ease into a life without cigarettes.

There are however certain remedies that may be used more often during the time of stopping.

Walnut

the remedy for adapting to change sometimes called the “link breaker” can be very helpful when the change is difficult or affecting you negatively.

Rockwater

for becoming too strict and rigid on oneself, self-denial, giving a more flexible approach. Sometimes for some to stop immediately is harder than easing slowly into it by cutting down first.

Scleranthus

if ones moods start to reach high and low, swinging to and fro. One moment happy, the next sad. Also for indecisiveness in regards to the quitting of smoking.

Impatiens and Beech

are remedies that seem to be needed often, Impatiens for the irritability, frustration and impatiens with others. Beech for when everything irritates you and you become snappy and critical of others.

Cherry Plum

is for those times when you feel that you are losing control of your actions and mind. When the frustrations become too much and you feel scared that you may say or do something to someone or oneself out of the usual.

Star of Bethlehem

when the lack of cigarettes is a shock to the system body, mind and soul.

Cherry Plum, Impatiens and Star of Bethlehem are in Rescue Remedy together with Clematis and Rock Rose. Rescue Remedy is of great benefit to relief some of the emotions one may experience.

How to take the Bach Flower remedies

Six to seven remedies can be mixed in one treatment bottle. Frequency of taking the remedies (every 5-10 minutes) in acute situations is certainly better. But when the situation is not extreme the minimum dose is 4 drops 4 times daily.

The Bach Flower Remedies keep the smoker at balance and when the reason is found it eases them gently into the non-smoker’s world.
