The Significance Of Colour

Turquoise – The Colour For New Times And New Measures by Thelma van de Werff

Colour is a universal language; a language that we are totally unaware we use every day! From the moment we wake in the morning we are surrounded with colour and without realizing it, our subconscious taps into this amazing and powerful tool and we start the day communicating to others our deepest thoughts and feelings through the colour choices of clothes we wear.  The subconscious of  people talking and interacting with you picks up on these colours and communication and understanding at the very deepest level begins.

When we understand the power of colour and acknowledge that not only is this wonderful tool so natural, but incredibly strong and effective, can we positively change our thoughts and feelings.  All colours have amazing properties that can support us with all aspects of our lives. We can create, through the process of changing our clothing colour choices, or within our living environment, the strength to deal with daily challenges and bring about happiness and inner peace.  We give ourselves the ability to work through  problems and traumas, accept guidance and direction, or any number of scenarios we find ourselves in!

We are living in a challenging but exciting new time, creating a need for us to change our old mindset and create new and innovative ways to deal and adjust to the changes that are happening all around us. To support us through this transition it is so important that we learn to value and listen to our own intuition.  We need to trust the ‘inner teacher’ and follow ‘what feels right’, accept that the ‘feeling’ deep within us is what we should truly believe.

The colour that can support us through change and adjustment is TURQUOISE, which is a combination of blue and green. Blue is a colour that represents trust, communication skills and self control.  The colour green represents our ‘heart’s desire’, healing, peace and harmony.  The combined colours of blue and green creates turquoise, bringing, in combination with blue and green properties, a very powerful tool to help us with creativity and spontaneity, to support us to listen to our intuition, joy and playfulness and very importantly, the ability to ‘create’and ‘move with the times,’ to ‘think out of the box’ and grow and expand our mind set to move ahead.

Turquoise is synonymous with the ‘New Age’and because it is ‘non traditional’, the diverse properties associated with this colour can give us the clarity to change and adjust to our new environment and all the  inherent challenges that this fast moving time is bringing us. This colour will also bring tranquility which is all so important to help us support change.

Turquoise is a colour of communication and computer science.  We all need, to allow us to evolve, to learn to use technology, and feel comfortable with its presence which we meet everyday of our lives, whether in the home, office, supermarket or through mobile phone use. Turquoise supports the understanding of technology.

Businesses, through the use of turquoise, can learn to be more pro active in creating new ideas to deal with the recession.  A down turn in the economy does not necessarily have to herald doom and gloom, nor the need to be competitive, but the excitement of brain storming to create new ideas and projects; ‘to move ahead’.

It is no coincidence that turquoise is a colour associated with playfulness and happiness. Dolphins, those playful, gentle and intelligent creatures are invariably associated with turquoise. Have you noticed that today 50 and 60 year olds are no longer deemed old, and it is perfectly accepted that we are reaching ‘maturity’ several decades later than previous generations. The New Age is creating an older but more youthful and spontaneous generation. We are acknowledging that life is not only about working hard, but that in order to stay happy and healthy we have to have fun.  Joy and happiness are great tools to create harmony, peace and better health; an all encompassing youthful persona.

Embrace the changes and challenges around you, using turquoise within your home, office or clothes, bring happiness, spontaneity and trust of intuition into your life!

Be colourful, Be you!
