Holding the book How To Heal Toxic Thoughts by Sandra Ingerman (Sterling Publishing, 9781402742606) in my hand immediately felt good. It’s a nice size and quality. I wanted to open it and read it, which has to be a good starting point for any book.
In the first few pages Sandra talks about ‘the energy of violence’ acting on an ‘invisible, physic level’. To some readers this will be a completely new concept that saying something like “She stabbed me in the back” or “He invaded my space” are more than just metaphors to describe how we feel, but have an energy and impact that can affect our health and well being.
Sandra explains how our emotional reactions are set off by all kinds of triggers, and then spends a lot of the book sharing techniques to change our reaction patterns, allowing us to move from negative to positive energy. The book looks at how to protect ourselves from intentional psychic attack as well as the negative emotions and events that can make up so much of every day life.
Techniques include:
If you are new to this way of looking at the world, you will find lots to think about, and useful practical exercises. If you are already familiar with this type of approach to life and well being, the sheer number of exercises and techniques means that you are bound to find something new or interesting.
Towards the end of the book Sandra says:
Always remember in time of conflict and change: stay focused, stay positive, stay centred.
This may seem like pie in the sky, but Sandra offers lots of techniques to help you move towards that position. But Sandra also recognises that we all works in progress so the appendix looks at frequently asked questions including ‘Does this mean I can never be grumpy?’
