All over the world people use touch for health (TFH) to help themselves, their families and their friends. In the UK a professional practitioner training is also offered. I asked Hazel Miller, one of the lecturers to tell me more about it.
“As in TFH, the emphasis is on educating the client, working with them to enhance their natural healing. It’s very hands-on, body-based, using the standard 42 kinesiology muscle tests as the basic tool.
“The client is involved right from the beginning of the
session, because we jointly set a goal for the session – we look at what the client wants to achieve and why, and we look at the client’s boundaries and expectations. We do this every session.“We use the Chinese 5 element model and muscle testing to create a map or chart for the session. The map shows us the energy deficient meridians, and we work with these to rebalance the whole energy system. We may work in the structural area of the body, or work with the body’s biochemical system or emotional or energetic patterns. We use a number of different tools, including dialogue/metaphor, postural analysis, touching specific points on meridians, working with chakras and the aura, either on the body or slightly off the body in the subtle energy system, and muscle massage and rebalancing.
“We place an emphasis on relationships and communications not only between the practitioner and the client, but also in the work we do. We look at the relationships and communication within the body itself – how muscles relate to one another, and the impact on our posture, how emotions relate to each other, and how the muscles, emotions, what we eat and our subtle energy systems all link together.
“A discussion process goes on throughout the session so that the client understands what is happening, and what changes they need to make in their life. This could involve specific exercises or life style changes, or taking nutritional supplements or flower remedies.
“Professional practitioners also become TFH instructors as part of their training, so they can teach people the basic TFH tools that they can use for themselves.”
