Creative Kinesiology with Carrie Jost
There are many different types of kinesiology, each reflecting something of their originators while using the basic muscle testing tools. I asked Carrie Jost, based in Devon, England about creative kinesiology and this is what she told me:
"The originator was Haakon Lovell, an acupuncturist who studied clinical kinesiology with Alan Beardall in the late 1980s. Haakon was fascinated to discover that he could link his acupuncture in with kinesiology. He started working with clients using his new knowledge, and he said it felt as if his back brain were open and all sorts of information was coming through that he could check with muscle testing. He only ever ran one long course that I did, and then he decided to hand over the responsibility for the teaching to me. I did more research work with him for 2 years and carried on teaching. My original training was as a psychotherapist, and I've also studied a
broad spectrum of kinesiologies, and that has helped to shape the way creative kinesiology has gone since then.
"When clients consult a creative kinesiologist, we're working with their
symptoms, issues, emotional state,
aches and pains, in fact almost anything. We are detectives, and we're looking into what the problem is, and the extent of it (on all levels). In doing that we are looking to see if there is a pattern happening within them or within their lives that we can identify it can be physical, biochemical, emotional and spiritual, or a mixture of all of them. So, for example, they may have a physical problem, and it may have an emotional content that they are not aware of. Sometimes, but not always, it's relevant where it comes from - is there a trigger from the past or in the present or in their ancestry that has contributed towards the problem? It is a very creative approach to working with each individual.
"Ancestral investigation is one of the key aspects of this approach - looking at ancestral patterns, ancestral vibrations that come through the DNA inheritance, and through
miasms. Within the session we may come to a recognition of key healing points in the ancestral line, so we use
ceremonies for the ancestors, healing, using whatever is appropriate at the time.
"We also focus extensively on
childhood and past events. Working with trauma, accident,
stress of any kind to release whats no longer needed, developing the clients awareness using muscle testing, the practitioners insights and the creative kinesiology manuals.
"Creative kinesiology practitioners tend to attract people who are looking for meaning and purpose in their lives they can be very ill or fit and healthy. It's great for working with children and the elderly. We see the healing as a process where each step forward may uncover another aspect of the issue. Sometimes a person's process will continue over time, and others may be quickly completed.
"The session is a process of developing awareness in the client. One of the key methods is in witnessing the client, and making a therapeutic relationship. Each session is a co-creation between theclient and the practitioner, so at each step of the way everything is explained. The dynamic is within the relationship between the client and the practitioner, rather than in the tools or the system. The tools are also important because they are wonderful.
"Creative kinesiology is partnered by perceptual bodywork, based on applied kinesiology. It uses the senses to go into the body and energy system to find ways to begin the process of change. We may use colour, sound,
essences, crystals, or link with nature. The therapist may also use other skills (from
reflexology, etc.) that they have in order fully to benefit the client."
