Sclerology is the art and science of interpreting the red lines in the whites of the eyes for their reflexive health implications. These lines quickly reveal constitutional pre-dispositions to disease, weak tissues, and acute concerns, as well as the causes and effects of the symptom-patterns that affect peoples’ health.
The health-evaluative usefulness of Sclerology is simply that the lines in the sclera start somewhere and end somewhere else, thus they can reveal both the cause and effect of a stress pattern. Further, the lines in the sclera change rapidly, and thus Sclerology provides both an “early warning” diagnostic picture of health issues as well as a quickly observable testimony to the efficacy of a therapy. For this reason, many Iridologists employ Sclerology in their diagnostics as a second witness to the body’s priorities for healing.
Sclerology and Iridology are two separate and independent views of the individuals’ stress patterns. Both sciences are windows to understanding health based on the body’s unique adaptation response to stress. However, each science presents a unique view and thus they work well together to compliment each other and provide the interpreter a broader view of insights.
Dr. David Holden, President of the Institute of Applied Iridology, claims,
“I credit Sclerology as a major reason for the success I’ve had in helping solve key issues for people, often when other methods have failed. This is because Sclerology allows me to quickly see what the constitutional weaknesses are. Once I know the key issues, I can design programs based on what the body reveals, not just the symptoms or lab work. This is how I combine insights from both medical & non-medical sources to gain a more complete picture of a patient’s case.”
Most people have heard of iridology, the study of the patterns in the iris of the eye. Sclerology is similar in that the lines reflect the stress patterns in the different parts of the body. For example if the thyroid is weak, then the thyroid line reflects stress in the sclera. However Sclerology is not a duplication of the iris information. There are advantages to both systems.
For example, Are cold hands and feet a circulatory, thyroid, constitutional-vitality, or immunological problem? The answer is reflected in the sclera by identifying the chief stress lines. What is the key to losing weight? Is it glucose metabolism, the endocrine glands, the liver, or an allergy pattern? Insights are revealed in the sclera’s portrayal of stress patterns. Is chronic fatigue attributed to a chronic infection, a weak endocrine system (thyroid/adrenals), an exhausted immune system, or a liver weakness? The sclera can help prioritize the order in which natural therapies should proceed for lasting results.
With Sclerology, the cause of stress is easily identified because the lines start somewhere (the cause) and end somewhere (the effect). Since the surface area of the sclera is so large, the lines are easily discernible. This means that cameras, magnifiers and grids are not necessary, though helpful, to make an accurate sclera analysis.
Recently, the International Sclerology Institute helped develop software that is compatible with the iridology cameras thus bringing Sclerology to iridologists as an inexpensive plug in to their existing systems. But the fundamentals of Sclerology are available to every practitioner—all that’s needed is pen and paper.
One facet of Sclerology that practitioners really appreciate is that the lines change relatively quickly. This means that if nutritional therapy is correct the lines fade or change (relax) shape within a short time proving the effectiveness of the program.
Also it is important to have more than one ‘witness’ to a health condition because it makes for a more complete understanding of the deeper cause of a person’s health concerns. Every modality has its partial window of insight. With Iridology and Sclerology combined, the practitioner has two windows right in one area of expertise—the eyes—making for a much more comprehensive understanding.
Sclerology is growing rapidly as an insightful and accurate way to understand a person's health and health concerns, just by glancing in the eyes.
