Most health care practitioners agree that stress plays a major role in our health. What if you had a way to address the stresses in your life? That is what Energy Kinesiology does. It allows us to look at any issue and discover what is the underlying cause by addressing the stress of the issue.
Energy Kinesiology stems from Applied Kinesiology, which was developed
by a chiropractor named George Goodheart in 1964. He discovered the importance of unlocked muscles in the function of the body. Through his research, he realized the relationship between unlocked muscles and points on the body and head, originally discovered in the 1920s by Dr. Frank Chapman, D.O. and Dr. Terence Bennett, D.C. By stimulating these points as well as points on the acupuncture system (meridians), the unlocked muscle could be returned to its normal locked state.John Thie, also a chiropractor, felt that lay people could do some of the techniques themselves to help their family and friends, without having to go to medical school. The profound but simple program he started is called Touch for Health which is now taught by certified teachers in 50 countries.
What makes Energy Kinesiology different from other holistic modalities is its use of muscle monitoring. Muscle monitoring is a biofeedback mechanism that lets the client’s body tell the practitioner where the stress is in the body and what it needs to balance. All imbalances in the body – physical pain, illness, depression, anxiety, learning problems, etc are caused by stress in the body.
The practitioner uses an arm or leg muscle and applies very light pressure. The muscle is not being checked for strength, but how well it is communicating with the brain through the use of the proprieceptors. This is a direct neurological path to the subconscious. Because the muscle responds to the subconscious, the practitioner is able to access stress stored from the past as well as emotions that relate to the current issue.
If there is stress the muscle will not hold, but will unlock. The practitioner through listening to the client, touching different points on the body, or through other information can find out the issue, what caused the issue and what the body needs to remove the blockages to healing. In this way Energy Kinesiology can be interwoven with any other health care system. It is exciting to see how different systems can all work together.
Basically Energy Kinesiology takes out the guess work. You don’t have to rely on the practitioner to find the cause of the problem. Your body communicates through the muscle monitoring.
Energy Kinesiology can incorporate many holistic modalities such as reflexology, acupressure, sound, light, flower essences, massage, nutrition, exercise and any additional methods the practitioner knows. It can encompass relationships between muscles, organs and the Chinese meridian system as well as the chakra system and can be seen as a bridge between Western and Eastern theories.
Your body actually has the ability to heal itself. But sometimes, due to stress, it is blocked and needs help to find and correct the blockage. That is what the energy kinesiology practitioner does – facilitates your body to heal itself.
