Water Filter
Ref: 4202
Special Offer: 25% Discount
A home water filter system that fits neatly under a sink with a stainless steel tap/faucet that provides water. This water filter will reduce pesticides and herbicides (e.g. lindane, atrazine), heavy metals (e.g. lead), cysts, chlorine taste and odour and sediment, making your water more pleasant to taste and possibly more healthy for you. The carbon block water filter is impregnated with silver that helps minimise bacterial growth.
This water filter is recommended by Ken Digby who provided us with the information for our article on choosing a water filter. We also sell a portable water filter.
Installation instructions for the home water filter:(These instructions are included with the filter when we send it to you.)
The unit is designed to be mounted under the sink and can be either hung vertically on the side of the cupboard or laid horizontally on the floor of the cupboard. When deciding where to fix the hanging screws for the bracket, allow enough distance below the Filter Head to be able to unscrew the cartridge for replacement.
1. Mount the bracket in the desired location. (The direction of flow is moulded into the top of the Head. 2. Take the wrapping off the cartridge and screw the cartridge into the Head. 3. Fit the faucet into the sink by drilling a 12 mm hole and mounting as indicated on the box. 4. When the faucet has been fitted, screw the grey tap adapter onto the end of the threaded pipe and push one end of the blue pipe into the adapter firmly so that it cannot be pulled out again. Push the other end of the blue pipe into the outlet side of the Head. 5. Unscrew the “T” of the saddle valve and place the saddle valve around the cold water supply pipe, clamp it into place, do not tighten the clamping screw excessively. 6. When the saddle valve has been clamped, screw the “T” fully in. 7. Push the pipe from the saddle valve into the inlet side of the Head. 8. Check for leaks. 9. Open the faucet by lifting the black lever fully so that it is locked open. 10. Slowly open the saddle valve “T” and check for leaks as the water begins to flow. 11. Allow the water to run to waste for a couple of minutes. 12. If the water appears creamy white, this is due to air in the water and it will clear upon standing. 13. Close the faucet and check for leaks again with the system under pressure. This filter system is easily installed by a handy man/woman or by a plumber. If you have a non-stainless steel sink, you may wish to mount the faucet/tap on the worksurface. Once you have the water filter system installed, changing the filter is very simple as there is a valve in the Head which isolates the water supply. Simply unscrew the cartridge and screw in a new one approximately every 6 months.
